The brand history

Almas Benditas was born in Mazatlán, Guerrero, where the Cupreata agave thrives in its natural environment. Its story traces back to Carmen Bautista Leyva, a pioneer who, in 1920, broke barriers to become one of the region’s first female mezcal masters.

Today, four generations later, the legacy lives on under José Jesús “Pepe” Robledo. The process remains deeply artisanal: slow cooking in stone ovens, tahona milling, natural fermentation in wooden vats, and double distillation in copper stills. Every bottle is numbered—each one a testament to patience, transparency, and heritage.

With over a century of history, Almas Benditas is more than mezcal—it is a spirit with soul, shaped by the mountains of Guerrero and the rhythm of its people.
